We are beyond excited to welcome Ryan Smith to the Insgroup family!

Joining us as a Managing Director, Ryan oversees the development of the firm’s annual and long-term business development and sales enablement plans for the southwest region of the United States. He was drawn to Insgroup because of the true team environment and the company’s relationship-driven culture.

Ryan has over seventeen years of insurance experience under his belt and holds a designation in Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS). He most recently served as the Managing Director for Wortham Insurance and Risk Management, then Marsh Wortham after the acquisition in 2018. Prior to this, he served as the firm’s statewide Sales Director in Texas and managed a book of business.

At age 29, Ryan was named the youngest Partner at Wortham, the 100-year-old firm, and in 2014, he was named Power Broker by Business Insurance for Energy and the 40 under 40 in the same year.

Ryan is a native Houstonian who attended Memorial High School. He received his bachelor’s in marketing and an MBA from Texas Tech University. Upon graduation, Ryan worked for the Texas Tech Alumni Association for two years as the Regional Representative.

When he’s not at work, Ryan enjoys a variety of activities including hunting, fishing, and golfing, and spending time with his wife Jill and their two children: Lillie and Pearson. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Texas Tech Alumni Association Board, and The Children’s Fund.
